“I can’t believe we’re actually up against God, the head of X Organization, for the B20 component.”
Jackson’s expression finally caught up with the seriousness of the situation. In Apex, nobody messed with X Organization. Everybody was afraid of them.
God, the one calling the shots for X Organization, had wiped out their N Organization two years ago. No mercy, no hesitation. After that, he built a business empire so fast it made headlines everywhere. Now, he basically owned Apex.
God barely ever showed his face. Hardly anyone had seen him in person. But just saying his name was enough to make you feel like death itself was breathing down your neck. That’s why people started calling him God.
Jackson looked over at Charlotte. “Charlotte, didn’t God come to Apex to sort out that mess between Netherworld Casino and the Hamlet Family?”
So why was he suddenly fighting them for the B20 component?
Charlotte sat back in her chair, her eyes lowered, fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. She didn’t say a word, but the tension in the room was almost suffocating.
Adonis sighed and tried to keep his voice steady. “Charlotte, X Organization isn’t short on anything, especially not money. If this turns into a bidding war, I don’t think we’ll stand a chance.”
They only had eight hundred million left. God could probably pull billions out of thin air.
Charlotte’s eyes narrowed, her fingers freezing mid-tap. There was a cold, dangerous light in her gaze.
Great. It was him again.
She’d already lost everything to God once when X Organization took over Apex. If he took the B20 from her too… the thought alone was unbearable.
Adonis was about to suggest they try to get money from Anthony when there was a sudden knock at the door.
An old servant stepped inside and bowed. “The lord of the castle would like to see you.”
“Alright.”
Charlotte stood up, her face clouded and unreadable, and walked out.
Jackson and Adonis exchanged nervous glances. Did Charlotte forget they were broke? What was she planning to use to fight God with?
All three of them had complicated backgrounds. The negotiation wasn’t set up for a face-to-face meeting. Instead, they were brought into a lavish hall with two private rooms on either side. The castle tord sat on a throne in the center, a cigar between his fingers and smoke curling up around him.
He could watch both sides through the cameras hidden in the room.
“Mr. C, please take a seat.”
A servant led Charlotte and her team into their room, then quietly stepped out.
Charlotte lifted her brow for a
second. As the door started to close,
she caught a glimpse of the castle
lord’s stormy face. The corners of her lips twitched with a small, sly smile.
Adonis watched her, completely confused. “Charlotte, what are you smiling about?”
How could she possibly be smiling now? Had God finally pushed her over the edge?
“I just saved myself a ton of money,” she said, her mood suddenly light. “That’s reason enough to be happy.”
Saved money? Adonis was even more lost. That was it. Charlotte had officially lost it. And it was all God’s fault.
Both sides sat down. The castle lord
took a deep drag on his cigar, showing off a set of yellow teeth as he grinned at everyone. “Well, looks like fate brought us all here for the B20. Let me do a quick introduction.”

He suddenly stopped. From what he knew, God needed the B20 component for one
of his experiments. For God to show up in person like this, he must have been determined to win.
