Chapter 545
“Charlotte, what do we do next?” Jackson asked, his eyes searching her face for a plan. It was obvious she wasn’t about to solve this by revealing who she really was.
“For now Charlotte let out a long yawn, stretching as she stood up. Her face was calm, almost bored. “I’m going to bed.”
Bed? Adonis scrambled to his feet, still clutching the throw pillow he’d been hugging. He looked at her, stunned. Anthony was causing all this trouble, and Charlotte wanted to sleep?
If he were in her shoes, he’d be grabbing a weapon and storming straight to Anthony, making him beg for mercy. In Adonis’s mind, Charlotte was just too forgiving when it came to Anthony.
“Let it go.” Jackson finally spoke up, his face unreadable as Charlotte disappeared into her bedroom. “Charlotte knows what she’s doing.” Just because she wasn’t acting now didn’t mean old grudges and fresh insults would be brushed aside so easily. People tended to forget that Charlotte was never one to let things slide.
X Organization had given them one day. Charlotte seemed completely unfazed. She slept in, waking up around noon.
She took her time, moving slowly through her morning routine. By the time she was done showering and eating, it was already getting dark outside.
Charlotte got dressed and walked into the living room.
“Charlotte, are we leaving now?” Adonis jumped up the instant he spotted her, barely able to contain his excitement. The idea of Anthony finally getting what was coming to him from Charlotte had kept Adonis awake all night. His guys were all ready, just waiting to go and embarrass X Organization. “No.” Charlotte straightened her collar, her voice cool and steady. “I have something to do. You guys stay here.”
“What?” Adonis blinked, confused. If she wasn’t headed to deal with Anthony, where was she going? Before he could figure it out, Charlotte was already gone.
Outside the hotel, Charlotte flagged down a cab and gave the driver an address. She was headed to Frostford’s fanciest, busiest mall.
Once she got there, she made a beeline for the men’s department, browsing with no real urgency.
