The second Hans realized this, he felt anger bubbling up inside. He was mad for Charlotte, even more than for himself. There was no way he could just stand by and watch Anthony get messed up by N.
“Not a word of this leaves this room,” Hans told his guy, his voice cold as ice. Then he stalked toward the main hall, his steps unsteady. He hovered at the door, not sure if he should actually go in.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the hall, Adonis looked like he was living his best life. He’d already drained three cups of tea and finished off two plates of snacks. He swung his legs, totally relaxed, while the people from X Organization watched the two of them with confused faces. Their eyes kept drifting to the room inside.
Even when Anthony was negotiating a ten-billion-dollar deal, it never took this long. What was happening in there?
Adonis caught the security guards eyeing him and almost wanted to laugh. He loved moments like this, when he knew the truth but no one else dared to say it out loud. Watching everyone squirm was half the fun.
“Jackson, do you think Charlotte’s going to hit Anthony?” Adonis asked.
Hit him? Jackson’s mouth twitched, almost like he was about to smile. Normally, if anyone said a bad word about Anthony, Charlotte’s face would turn stormy. There was no way she’d lay a finger on him.
Inside the room, Anthony sat on the couch, and Charlotte was perched right on his lap. There was a compensation form on the table. Charlotte picked up a pen, crossed out the thirty billion, and wrote in ninety billion instead.
Anthony watched her, and finally, the tension in his shoulders eased. If Charlotte was still willing to take his money, it meant she wasn’t mad anymore.
“You said it yourself. Triple the compensation. I didn’t force you, did I?” Charlotte spun the pen between her fingers, her voice calm. “To make things easier for X Organization, I’ll just round it up. I’ll take an even hundred billion.”
Anthony stared at her. She’d just added ten billion, no questions asked. Talk about ruthless.
“Sign it.”
Charlotte shoved the pen into his hand, not giving him any chance to say no.
Anthony let out a low laugh, took the pen, and signed his name. “The payment will be in your account by tonight.”
