“Yes, Donald. Oh, by the way
Saul added, sounding casual, “The deal with Anthony is already in motion. The joint training program between Cabinda University and Kingswood University has started.”
He picked up a pair of binoculars, scanning the packed training area. “Sounds like they’re doing some kind of sparring practice. Want to swing by and check it out?”
“Sparring practice?” Donald’s face twisted with a hint of mockery. His voice was deep and cold. “Just a bunch of pampered students waving their arms around. There’s nothing interesting about that.”
The White Whale Training Base had been built to train top-tier special forces. Backed by the state and led by the Eldoria Special Forces Alliance, the place sprawled out for acres. Every year, the soldiers who graduated from here were sent to some of the toughest, most dangerous places on earth, defending their country and keeping the peace.
The name White Whale Training Base was enough to make people nervous, both at home and abroad. If you called the White Whale members gods, then this place was where gods were made.
Usually, the base wasn’t open to outsiders. If it weren’t for a recent funding crunch and a sponsor willing to pay up, those students wouldn’t have even gotten past the
front gate.
“I’m not interested,” Donald said, turning away and giving Saul a bored glance. “Let’s just head to the main training center.”
“Yes, sir.” Saul dropped the subject, trailing after Donald and updating him on what had been happening at the base.

As they walked, Donald listened, pulling his new phone out of his pocket. He opened up the family group chat.
He’d lost his last phone on a mission in the mountains. After everything wrapped up, he’d flown straight back to Cabinda and had someone pick up a replacement as soon as he landed.
There used to be a photo of his little sister in the chat, a bit blurry but still there. Now, the whole chat history was wiped. Nothing left at all.
Donald frowned, starting to type a message to let everyone know he was back. Just then, loud cheers burst out from nearby.
He looked up.
Right in the middle of the training field, a tall girl in green camo was moving with sharp, practiced precision. In just a couple moves, she sent her opponent tumbling to the ground.
The people around them erupted. Shouts filled the air.
“Donald, she’s good,” Saul said, watching Janie with open admiration. He didn’t hold back on the praise either. “You don’t see
many girls pulling off that. See ne

technique. Those moves are usually meant for the guys.”
They crossed the student training grounds on their way to the main center. Spotting Donald, the staff member in charge of physical training hurried over.
“Donald, you’re back.”
This last mission had been risky, so Donald only took a few seasoned soldiers with him. The rest stayed behind in Cabinda.
Donald nodded, glancing over the field with a furrowed brow. “That girl
Pollard caught where he was looking and grinned. “You noticed her too, huh? She’s got great form. Really impressive.”
Donald’s expression cooled, his eyes thoughtful.
“She’s the national sparring champ.
Won a few years in a row,” Pollard went on, clearly missing the way Donald’s face was growing darker by the second. “With the right guidance, she could make a top-notch special forces recruit.”
Donald kept watching, eyes narrowed. The girl on the ground struggled to her feet, only to get knocked down again by the champion before she could even catch her breath.
