Chapter 106
After washing up, Charlotte stepped into the living room.
“Good afternoon, Charlotte.”
Helen took one look at Charlotte’s stunning face and almost lost her train of thought. She smiled warmly. “You must be starving. I kept lunch warm just for you.”
Charlotte glanced around. Besides Helen and a couple of maids, Anthony was nowhere in sight. Her perfectly shaped brows came together in a subtle frown.
“Anthony went to the office. He told us not to wake you up. If you want to go out, the driver’s on standby.”
“Alright.”
Charlotte lowered her eyes and sat down at the table.
After she finished eating, Helen wouldn’t let her leave until she’d checked Charlotte’s bandaged wound. Only once that was done did Charlotte grab her backpack.
“I’m heading home to pick up a few things.”
Home?
Helen, still wearing her apron, hurried after her, worry etched on her face. “Charlotte, how about I send a couple of bodyguards with you?”
Hans had already told her a little about Charlotte’s family. Poor kid. Her mom was gone, her dad couldn’t care less, and she was stuck with a stepmom and stepsister who weren’t even related by blood.
That was why they’d kicked her out in the first place.
Helen couldn’t help but worry. If Charlotte went back alone, wouldn’t they just make things worse for her?
At Helen’s concern, Charlotte’s eyes flashed, and a slow, chilling smile spread across her flawless face. There was something about it that made Helen’s heart skip.
“No need.”
Helen felt a shiver run through her. A girl who could handle both Anthony and 98K probably wasn’t someone who could be pushed around.

The Henley estate was in chaos. The living room looked like a lawyer convention, with several men in sharp suits arguing over Jesse’s bail.
Elizabeth had red, swollen eyes. She leaned into Steven, sniffling quietly. “He’s the only Henley son. If y anything happens to him, what are we supposed to do?”
Steven wrapped his arms around her, murmuring, “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.”
Just then, he caught a glimpse of someone standing at the doorway—a tall, striking figure.
Steven’s face hardened in an instant. “What are you doing here?” he snapped.
Charlotte barely glanced at him. She walked right past and headed upstairs to the attic.
The attic was a mess, packed with boxes and all kinds of junk. Charlotte’s eyes grew cold as she searched through a box, determined.
Steven stormed up after her, Elizabeth right behind him. The sight of Charlotte tearing through the attic sent Steven into a rage.
“Charlotte, do you have any respect for me?”
She didn’t even look up, which just made Steven angrier. He raised his hand to slap her, but Charlotte caught his wrist without missing a beat.
Her pale, slender fingers squeezed just enough to make Steven’s face twist in pain. He tried to break free, but she didn’t even flinch.
“Charlotte, I’m your father! How dare you touch me?”
He struggled, completely shocked at how strong his supposedly delicate daughter
was.
Elizabeth was just as stunned, but she quickly recovered and charged forward, her expression fierce.
“This is out of control! Somebody tie her up!”
She was sure the whole family could
handle one girl, but she barely
managed two steps before a sharp
pain shot through her knees. Her
legs buckled and she collapsed onto the floor
Charlotte calmly pulled back her foot. She kept Steven pinned with one hand and pointed a baseball bat at Elizabeth’s forehead with the other Her beautiful face had turned icy, and mereyes were cold and sharp.
“Shut up. Stay on your knees.”
Three or four bodyguards came rushing in, only to freeze at the scene in front of
them.
No one could believe what they were seeing.
