Steven’s face twisted in pain. Elizabeth was on her knees in front of Charlotte.
And Charlotte was the one holding all the power.
The bodyguards had worked for the Main family for years. They all remembered how Charlotte used to be so timid and quiet. Even the maids would shout at her. She wouldn’t even look people in the eye, let alone fight back.
She’d only been sent to the countryside for a few years. Everyone had heard she’d changed a little, but nobody expected her to come back like this.
Right now, she looked exactly like she had years ago, the day she got caught with Jesse. Cornered and furious, cold as ice. That same terrifying expression sent a chill through the room.
No one dared to move.
“What are you waiting for? Grab her!” Steven’s voice was sharp and desperate.
The bodyguards exchanged nervous glances and took a step forward.
Before they could reach her, Steven suddenly clutched his wrist, groaning in pain. His face was a mess of sweat and agony.
He thought his hand might actually break.
“Charlotte, you-”
“I told you to shut up. Stay on your knees.”
Elizabeth tried to get up, but Charlotte jabbed her hard on the forehead with a baseball bat. Elizabeth collapsed to the floor again.
Charlotte looked down at her, eyes cold and empty. “If I hear one more word, I’ll poke your eyes out.”
Elizabeth’s knee was probably broken. The pain made her grit her teeth, but when she looked up and met Charlotte’s icy stare, all she felt was fear. She stayed quiet, not daring to make a sound.
This little brat had picked up some skills in the countryside.
She wasn’t going to let this go.
The bodyguards stood frozen, shocked by how different Charlotte was now.
Sure, hitting your parents was wrong, but damn, Charlotte actually looked kind of cool doing it.
“You, come here.”
Charlotte glanced at the bodyguards, her chin lifted with a cold confidence. Her voice sent shivers down their spines.
They hurried over, suddenly polite. “Miss Charlotte, what do you need?”
“You have ten minutes to find the box my mom left behind.”
A box? The attic was packed with old stuff. How were they supposed to find anything in ten minutes?
The leader of the bodyguards
hesitated, looking worried. “Miss Charlotte, there’s too much up here It’s going to be hard to find. Tep minutes might not be enough-
He didn’t finish. Charlotte opened the attic window, grabbed a priceless vase, and tossed it outside without a second thought.
Steven’s eyes almost popped out of his head. That vase had cost him two million.
“You”
Charlotte didn’t even blink. She picked up an even more valuable jade ornament and sent it flying out the window.
Three million. Gone just like that.
“Charlotte—” Steven could barely breathe. It felt like his heart was being sliced
open.
The bodyguards just stared. They couldn’t believe she was throwing out all these treasures.
“Have you figured out how to search yet?” Charlotte turned back to them, sounding almost bored. “If you can’t find it in ten minutes, I’ll set fire to… the whole villa.”.
They got the message, but none of them dared move. Everything in the attic was valuable, and who knew where Charlotte’s mother’s box was hidden?
The bodyguards looked helplessly at Steven.
She was making them choose between all the valuables and the house itself.
“Nine minutes left
“Find it!” Steven barked, clutching his wrist, his eyes full of hatred as he glared at Charlotte.
“Yes, sir.”
With his order, the bodyguards finally got moving, tossing priceless antiques out the window one after another.
