At two in the afternoon, students started trickling into the exam room one by one.
Olivia made her way to her seat, sitting up straight, every move elegant and refined as she flipped through her notes. Around her, people whispered about the “eating trash” incident. Even though she’d already explained it was just a misunderstanding and got the video deleted, plenty of students still loved to bring it up whenever they got bored.
Thinking about how she’d been humiliated because of Charlotte made Olivia clench her teeth in silent frustration. But no matter how annoyed she felt, she kept her face calm and pleasant. Her image mattered more than her feelings.
Nancy, sitting beside her, caught wind of the gossip and jumped up to defend her. “You all love to gossip, but how about trying for first place in the grade for once?”
Nancy couldn’t stand mixing with students she considered beneath her. Why did the school insist on making the regular and A-class students take exams together? Being surrounded by these people was just bad for her mood.
Right as Nancy finished venting, the door burst into life.
“Andrew, over here!”
Andrew? Olivia glanced over and saw Andrew walking in with Parrish, both of them carrying only a pencil case, looking effortlessly cool and handsome. They were the kind of guys every girl in school secretly dreamed about-good looks, great families, the whole package.
When Andrew’s gaze swept in her direction, Olivia quickly fixed her hair and stood up, acting shy and graceful. As he stepped inside, she gently tugged Nancy’s sleeve and said, with a warm, sweet smile, “It’s fine, Nancy. We’re all classmates, after all.”
“But they’re making fun of you!” Nancy was fuming, practically ready to announce to the whole room, “I’m Olivia’s number one supporter. If anyone says a word about her, they’ll have to answer to me.”
“They probably didn’t mean anything by it,” Olivia said, turning to the others with her trademark gentle smile. “Hope we didn’t scare you.”
Next to Nancy, Olivia looked even more like the perfect elegant lady-kind, gracious, and raised right. Once she’d played her part, Olivia stole a shy glance at Andrew, waiting for him to notice her.
But to her surprise, Andrew wasn’t looking at her at all. His smile was directed at someone just outside the doorway, wide and genuine.
Who was he smiling at like that?
While Olivia was still wondering, a girl in a brand-new school uniform walked in. She was tall and slender, carrying herself with quiet confidence, her gaze lowered. It was Charlotte.
Shirley walked in right beside her, grinning from ear to ear. Andrew and Parrish followed close behind, almost like bodyguards.
The classroom buzzed with excitement the moment they walked in.
“Wait, is that Charlotte from Class C?”
“Yeah, that’s her!”
“She’s so tall and pretty. Seriously, she looks amazing.”
Most students thought the new uniforms were hideous. Half of them had already switched back to their old skirts when the teachers weren’t around But somehow, Charlotte made even the worst uniform look incredible. Maybe the uniforms weren’t the problem. Maybe it was just the person wearing them.
