Robert’s mood took a nosedive. “Lottie, Grandpa just wants to make it up to you.”
His voice sounded pitiful, and Charlotte couldn’t help but frown. Why was he so desperate for her to spend his money, and actually upset when she didn’t?
She pressed her lips together, then glanced sideways at Shirley, who was packing her things. The corners of Charlotte’s mouth curled up. “Fine. I’ll spend it.”
Just like that, Robert’s mood turned sunny again. He reminded her again and again not to be shy. When the time came, she just had to mention the Gates family name and someone would come settle the bill.
“Got it, Grandpa.” Charlotte replied sweetly, hung up, and raised an eyebrow at Shirley. “Wanna go shopping?”
“Huh?” Shirley looked confused, clutching her backpack, her face turning pink. “I don’t have any money.”
“You’re coming with me.”
“But Shirley hesitated, biting her lip.
“If you come with me, I’ll get you Kenneth’s autograph.”
Charlotte didn’t even wait for a response. She pulled Shirley over to her side.
Kenneth’s autograph? Shirley’s eyes immediately sparkled.
“Ten photos. And he won’t be wearing a shirt.”
“Oh my god, I’m in! I’ll go, I’ll go!” Shirley was practically floating. “Even if my feet fall off today, I won’t complain!”
Andrew, who’d overheard them, frowned and gave a little snort. “He’s just some celebrity. Is he really worth all that excitement?”
Parrish whipped out his phone and started searching for Kenneth. “He’s not just good looking. If you look closely, he kind of looks like Charlotte.”
Andrew glanced over and, for a second, looked genuinely surprised. He pouted. “How does Charlotte even know someone like that? And how’s she getting shirtless pics?”
“Did you forget what Charlotte’s capable of?” Parrish grinned. “If she really wanted, she could probably hack into his computer and get even more… revealing photos.”
Andrew just stared. He had a feeling Charlotte was about to be a terrible influence on Shirley.
The city’s biggest luxury mall was packed with all the top designer brands, every iconic label you could think of in one place. People called it a paradise for the rich.
Shirley never thought Charlotte would drag her somewhere like this. She was so nervous, her legs felt like jelly.
“Charlotte, do you know where we are?”
Charlotte followed the directions Robert had sent her. She glanced around and answered seriously, “Somewhere that sells stuff.”

Charlotte glanced around, picked out two outfits, and handed them to Shirley. “Try these for me.”
“Me?” Shirley looked at the price tag. Just one dress cost more than she’d ever seen in her life. Her hands
shook, but since it was for Charlotte she took them into the fitting room.
While Shirley was changing, Charlotte flopped down on the sofa and pulled out her phone. Two mimates ago, Kevin ad messaged her Lottie, your aunt is at th@mall too I’ll have her come find you soon.
Charlotte sent a quick reply. Okay.
Nearby, the sales associate looked Charlotte up and down, frowning a little. This girl didn’t look like she came from money. Did she even have the means to buy anything here?
