She spent almost every class daydreaming, even got her hand hurt, and somehow still landed the top score in the whole country. Was this what people meant by genius? How many more times was Charlotte going to blow everyone’s mind?
As the room buzzed with praise for Charlotte, Nancy felt like she’d swallowed something rotten. The taste in her mouth was awful. How could Charlotte possibly get a 720? How could she come in first place?
Nancy’s thoughts spun. Didn’t Charlotte know someone on the exam committee? Maybe she got the questions ahead of time. That had to be it. Charlotte had definitely cheated. Nancy was going to prove it.
She slipped into a corner, pulled out her phone, and fired off a quick text: This is Charlotte’s email. You know what to do.
Nancy was determined to ruin Charlotte. She wanted her completely exposed, with no way to talk herself out of it.
In Class C, Charlotte leaned against the wall, eyes lowered as she played with her phone. She was just getting into her game when a notification popped up.
Email is under hacker attack…
It was just a throwaway account she’d made for the class group chat. There was nothing important in there. Who would waste time hacking something so pointless?
Charlotte absentmindedly swung her feet, only barely interested. She didn’t bother to block the attack.
System attack successful.
Charlotte couldn’t help but smile a little. The hacker took a minute and a half just to get in. With skills like that, they’d starve as a hacker.
A few seconds later, a new email landed in her inbox. It looked like an exam paper.
It opened and downloaded itself, and even the time stamp had been changed to the day before the test.
So they were setting her up to look like she cheated? Again? Charlotte let out a quiet sigh, then tapped on her phone, helping the hacker fix the time stamp so it looked flawless making sure there were no obvious traces left. No one looking in would ever guess it was a hack
The hacker seemed satisfied and ended the attack.
Charlotte traced the hack back to its source. It took her maybe ten seconds to pull
up all the hacker’s info, including their text messages.
She glanced at the messages, her
eyes suddenly cold, a chill running through her whole body. Putting her phone away, she yawned, ready

broke through the quiet.
“Charlotte, Charlotte!”
Charlotte looked up, a little annoyed. Her hearing was perfectly fine, no need to yell.
“Charlotte, do you know what you scored?” Shirley ran over, breathless, grabbing Charlotte’s arm in excitement.
Charlotte raised her head, her eyes narrowing with a hint of mischief, lips curling into a small smile. “Let me guess… 720. Lost thirty points on Literature, full marks on everything else.”
Shirley froze. “Charlotte, how did you know?” She was supposed to be the first one telling her.
Charlotte just smiled and said quietly, “I just guessed.”
Guessed? The girl who zoned out in class, napped whenever she could, and always got someone else to do her homework… just guessed her. way to720 points? And now she was number one in the whole country?
