Roger trailed after him, his face clouded with anger, gripping a club even thicker than the one Kenneth held.
Charlotte took a small sip of milk, then glanced at Anthony sitting next to her. She knew Jesse was at Imperial Heights, but she hadn’t gotten the chance to see him yet.
“You can see him if you want, but don’t do anything for now,” Anthony said calmly. He placed a peeled egg on the plate in front of her and added, “I loosened him up a bit last night. He’s still out cold.”
A bit? That was putting it mildly. Judging by Anthony’s tone, Jesse was probably barely hanging on.
“The most important thing right now is to clear Lottie’s name and sort out what really happened,” Anthony continued. He picked up a napkin and gently wiped a smear of jam from the corner of Charlotte’s mouth. His voice softened. “Let Lottie handle this.”
If Charlotte hadn’t insisted on taking care of it herself, that guy probably wouldn’t have made it through the night.
“Alright,” Charlotte answered quietly. She picked up the basket and set a piece of bread on each of Roger’s and Kenneth’s plates. “I’ll handle this myself.”
“Fine.”
Roger and Kenneth exchanged a quick look when they heard her answer, but let it go. “We heard everyone who set you up back then has been found.”
They had the people and the evidence. As soon as everything went online, Lottie’s name would finally be cleared.
But it was obvious Lottie wasn’t going to let it end so easily. Somebody needed to pay for what she’d been put through five years ago.
After breakfast, Charlotte sat cross-legged on the couch, scrolling through the news about herself. Every headline was calling her names, and some even mentioned things only her closest family would know.
It was obviously Olivia’s doing.
Charlotte’s eyes grew colder. She tapped out a message to Jackson and Adonis.
