Charlotte’s eyes narrowed just a little, her expression shifting as she looked at Anthony. He stood there in a perfectly fitted black suit that made him look
annoyingly flawless, every detail sharp and put together. Those refined features, the soft arch of his lips, and the way he held himself made him look both untouchable and just a little bit dangerous, like he was born to break hearts.
Honestly, he looked like some kind of siren, set on making her lose her mind.
Charlotte blinked, glancing away to avoid getting caught up in the intensity.
“Don’t move.”
She’d barely shifted when Anthony’s hand tightened around her waist. He leaned in, his chin gently resting on her shoulder, and she could hear the smile in his voice. “If you can’t sit still, I might have to do a little more than just hold you.”
She could feel how hard he was working to keep it together.
“Oh.” She let out a soft laugh, not fighting him at all. Instead, she reached up, cradled his face in her hands, and studied him for a few seconds before stealing a quick kiss.
Anthony’s breathing changed instantly, growing deeper.
“Don’t you move either,” Charlotte whispered, looping her arms around his neck and snuggling into him like she’d done it a million times before. Even so, her voice had a little edge to it. “Or maybe I’ll have to do a bit more than kissing.”
Was she really saying this to him?
Anthony loosened his tie, taking a slow breath, trying to play it cool even though he was clearly on the edge. “You’re playing with fire,” he said, every word careful and low. “I’ll remember this. Trust me.”
One day, he was definitely going to make her pay him back.
Charlotte leaned closer, her fingers threading through his, their hands fitting together perfectly. She let her breath tickle his ear. “I’m counting on it.”
How did she always manage to have the upper hand? From the way Anthony acted, it was like he never stood a chance with her.

Kenneth was basically falling over drunk, so his bodyguard drove him straight home His manager was already waring at the front door, and the look on his face when he saw the scene inside the car was priceless.
Seriously, what was happening here? How did these two, who couldn’t stand each other, end up riding home together? Miracle they hadn’t fought the whole way back.
What was even crazier was Kenneth clinging to Emily like she was his lifeline.
The manager tried to keep it together and gave Emily an awkward smile. “Thanks for helping out. I’ll get Kenneth inside.”
“Sure.” Emily’s head was spinning. She tried to push Kenneth’s arm off her shoulder, but he clung even tighter, and before she knew it, she’d stumbled right into his arms.
Kenneth frowned, his eyes
unfocused and confused. When he finally say Emily’s face, he just grinned looking more handsome and ridiculous than ever. “Who are you and why are you in such a rush to jump into my arms?”
He was so drunk he clearly had no clue what was going on. Typical.
Emily shot him a glare, shoved his arm off, and wriggled out of his hold, her cheeks burning. “Just get him inside.”
“Of course.” The manager quickly helped Kenneth out of the car, then turned back. “Thanks again for bringing him home, Emily.”
Emily watched Kenneth stumble away, her face going hot and cold as she remembered what had happened earlier. That jerk. That was her first kiss.
