Chapter 591
Twenty million?
Charlotte’s eyebrows shot up the moment she heard the number.
No wonder The White Whale had agreed so quickly. With that kind of money on the table, who wouldn’t?
She knew those guys were all about saving every penny, especially their captain. He was the one who’d once dug a massive hole for her to fall into, costing her more than a hundred million in military hardware.
And now he was pulling the same trick on Anthony.
Charlotte couldn’t help but feel annoyed.
“If the training gets boring, call me,” Anthony said softly, twirling a strand of her long hair around his finger. His dark eyes were impossible to read, but his voice was gentle.
He knew this sort of training was nothing for her.
“Boring?”
Charlotte leaned back on the sofa, half-closing her eyes. A small, dangerous smile curled at her lips. “I can think of much more interesting things to do.”
Like evening the score.
The next morning, Roger and Kenneth were already waiting by the car outside.
“Doesn’t Anthony have connections? Why can’t he just get Charlotte out of this training?” Kenneth grumbled, looking worried. He imagined Charlotte, so delicate and fair, being sent off to some training camp to eat dust and bake under the sun. “Fifteen days of this, she’ll be a completely different person by the end.”
“It’s even worse than you think,” Roger replied, his frown deepening. “This isn’t the usual training. They brought in instructors from The White Whale.”
Even Kenneth, who was usually too busy to follow the news, had heard of The White Whale. Using those guys as trainers… Charlotte was really in for it.
Kenneth’s worry only grew, and even Roger felt a twinge of sympathy just thinking about what Lottie was about to go through.
“Do you really want to go?” Roger asked quietly. If she wanted out, getting a leave would be easy.
Charlotte just nodded with a bright, easy smile. “It sounds fun, actually. Training with a bunch of people for once.”
She’d always trained alone before. It got lonely.
She wore a crisp white shirt, black jeans, and comfortable white sneakers. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail, her face fresh and lovely.
Fun?
Kenneth saw her innocent smile and secretly wished her good luck.
Roger opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but let it go.
Anthony, on the other hand, looked completely calm, with a little smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He seemed to know something the others didn’t. When the real training began fe had a

Kingswood University was buzzing. Banners hung everywhere, promo signs lined
the walkways, and students filled the campus with laughter and energy.
With Charlotte’s special status, having all three of them walk her in would only draw attention she didn’t need. Instead they arranged for her to meet Andrew and the others at the entrance, sending a few assistants along to help her out.
“Be careful Anthony said, his hands steady on her waist. He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her

First. If it doesn’t work, I’ll come up with something.”
“Got it,” Charlotte answered sweetly. She turned to Roger and Kenneth and flashed them a pure, sunny smile. “Roger, Kenneth, see you guys later.”
The two men nodded, still looking unsettled.
Once Charlotte disappeared into the crowd, Kenneth suddenly remembered something and turned to Roger. “Wait, isn’t Donald supposed to be coming back soon?”
Donald’s job was top secret. They didn’t even know which unit he was with, but he was special forces, and he probably had contacts in The White Whale.
If Donald could put in a word, maybe Lottie would have someone looking out for her.
