“I checked it out. The documents really came from the International Medical
Department. They probably watched your last competition video and decided to give you a shot.”

Charlotte just smiled and said nothing.
When she stayed quiet, Glenn frowned a little and kept going. “Getting into the International Medical Department is every med student’s dream. But
He hesitated, watching Charlotte carefully, his worry obvious. “Charlotte, who taught you how to do those dissections? Did you ever get any formal training?”
“Hmm?” Charlotte snapped out of her thoughts. Her voice was soft. “I grew up in the countryside and met someone who knew medicine. I picked up a few things from him.”
A country doctor? Just a few things?
Glenn was doubtful. He remembered the way Charlotte had worked during the competition. Honestly, he had never seen anything like it at med school. He even tried to copy her moves and failed every time.
So she really did learn from some rural doctor.
“You mean, you’ve never had formal medical theory training?”
“That’s right.”
Charlotte straightened up, hands behind her back, answering like an obedient student.
Back then, when her mentor brought her into the lab, she was supposed to start with theory first. But the professor was away overseas, and she got bored. She started flipping through the books in the library.
And then… she ended up reading all of them without meaning to.
Old and new medical books, from everywhere. Once she laid eyes on something, it stuck in her memory.
So, self-study probably didn’t count as real formal training.
After hearing all this, Glenn felt a little helpless.
Sure, Charlotte had done great in the competition. But the international one included a written test. Could she really handle that? What if she just froze on stage in front of everyone?
What was her deal anyway?
Usually, the people who got in were either top talents chosen by their countries, or people who’d made huge medical breakthroughs. If he didn’t know her family had gone broke ages ago, he’d think she had some big-shot connections.
“You might lose, but getting this chance isn’t easy,” Glenn said. He didn’t tease or discourage her—just tried to comfort her, like a caring uncle. “Give it a shot. See the world a little.”
See the world?
Charlotte smiled faintly. “You’re right.”
“The competition’s at the start of next month.” Glenn opened his safe as he spoke, taking out his favorite books and notes. “These are my research notes from over the years. Maybe it’ll be confusing, but even skimming through might help.”
He honestly had no idea how to help a student taught by a “country doctor” in such
a short time. This competition was going to be broadcast worldwide. At least Charlotte would bring some attention to traditional medicine. The outcome wasn’t the point.
“Okay.” Charlotte nodded and took the notes. Just as she was about to leave, Glenn called out again.
“Letty’s going to be at the competition too.”
Letty was a second-year grad student, and her theory and skills were solid. Charlotte had talent, but her foundation wasn’tas strong as Letty’s. If they met again, Charlotte might not be as lucky.
“Her?” Charlotte looked calm, just humming a quiet reply. “Got it.”
“Be careful. Don’t pick a fight with her. Especially since Glenn frowned even more “Her mentor is a big deal in the International
Department. Word is, she might
even be a judge this time.”
Great skills, great connections. If Charlotte tried to go head-to-head, she’d only get hurt.
“Understood.”
The whole time, Charlotte’s face stayed calm and unbothered.
She didn’t have time to mess with anyone, but she hoped people wouldn’t mess with her either.

“How’s Charlotte doing lately?”

Newell didn’t know him well-they’d barely interacted. He’d only heard that Anthony was unpredictable and ruthless.
With Charlotte’s personality, she shouldn’t like a guy like that, let alone get close to
him.
“The research institute’s funding mostly comes from Anthony’s personal account,” the assistant added.
Hearing that, Newell’s lips curled up just a little, and the coldness in his eyes faded.
So she was cozying up to Anthony just for the money?
Charlotte really was clever, finding someone like Anthony to bankroll her.
“Don’t send anyone to follow her.”,
Newell looked out the window at the
endless ocean, his voice low and husky. “She hates being watched. If she catches you, she’ll kill you.”
When Charlotte lost her temper, she wasn’t even afraid to beat him up.
As soon as he said that, the bodyguards nearby and at the door all froze. Just thinking about Nine’s cold, emotionless face was enough to send chills down their spines.
